Riverland Farm Membership 2010
Share Days & Hours:
Tuesday 2-7, Thursday 2-7, Saturday 10-2
Share members buy into the farm at the beginning of the season by purchasing a "share", and in exchange members essentially own a share of the harvest throughout the season. Our vegetables are grown without using any chemical fertizers, synthetic pesticides, or herbicides. Aside from fresh organic vegetables we offer fruits, flowers and herbs as well. All the vegetables are grown right here at the farm and can be seen growing in our fields from the distribution barn. In the share room you will meet the farmers that raise the crops from seedlings to harvest. We feel it is important not only to grow vegetables but to meet and see the people that take the vegetables home every week.
On each share day we harvest crops that are in season; and wash them by hand to be distributed that same day to ensure the vegetables are at the peak of their flavor and freshness. We also include a bi-weekly newsletter that tells you about what is happening in the fields and gives you some recipes to try at home. There are some crops that we open to members for u-pick (these crops are included in the share price). Many of our members look forward to coming to the farm and walking out into the fields not only to pick but to see the Connecticut River and look up to mount Sugarloaf through the changing seasons. Through the season you will pick juicy strawberries, crisp peas, true vine-ripened tomatoes, fragrant herbs and colorful flowers. Members are welcome to come any day during the week from sun-up to sun-down to pick the crops when in season.
By joining Riverland Farm CSA the community and local economy can only be strenghthened. The farm is able to then offer jobs, focus on growing vegetables for the members and continue to strenghten the economy by purchasing from other local producers and purveyors. In the end it is a win win situation.
